  1. The Dao of DA:O - playing blind

Your point about getting outflanked and the general melee mosh pit is spot-on. There is not a whole lot you can do about this at the earliest levels. Soon after you leave Lothering you should make investing in crowd control a priority, there are a couple spell trees that are all about this and...
  2. Most replayable games according to Steam reviews (Single Player focus)

It's not important really, but I consider xenoverse one of the most single-player friendly fighters since the golden age of fighting games in the PS2 era (think Soul Calibur 3 or Mortal Kombat Armageddon) One reason is just the sheer amount of story and branching quests. The storyline that has...
  3. Most replayable games according to Steam reviews (Single Player focus)

People love their simulation games, it seems. Going through my own list showed me results I didn't quite expect. Here are my most played games: Injustice 2: 664 hours (and counting). I am a highly competitive player in this fighting game and this doesn't surprise me. I still try to keep my...
  4. Industry News / Upcoming Games

Game developers are just going to need to find a way to cut costs. Which shouldn't be hard, honestly. The market isn't going to bear 100$ games. Especially not in this time of widespread mediocrity. They better deliver double on the content if they want this to fly.
  5. Chocolate Chip Cookies... from the Temple of Elemental Evil?

A couple months ago I beat ToEE for the first time, and *then* I heard about the mod that fixes bugs and adds a functional postgame with a brand new city. Kicking myself, I need to start over. I need to also bake these Cookies of Elemental Evil and make a review of them

I am taking my Arcanum playthrough slow and steady. Almost finished now. It was a delight to get a video today on Arcanum lore from Tim Cain himself. He clearly has a lot of appreciation for this IP, and I can't blame him.
  7. That time I gibbed a dude with a DART? (IWD)

I'm now tempted to make a sling in Neverwinter Nights with the "Great Thunderclap" effect. A localized explosion every time you land a hit. Silly but probably fun for a few minutes.
  8. That time I gibbed a dude with a DART? (IWD)

When I was creating an npc mod for BG1 I ended up modding in a usable throwing spear, I saw a few gibs before. I'm sure it's not possible via missile weapon. In the video it really looks like they got gibbed with a sling.
  9. Neverwinter Nights 2: Enhanced Edition

What's interesting is that Aspyr Media owns Beamdog. So it's an odd situation. NWN2, more than any game i've played, can benefit a lot with a little work. I will be watching this hopefully. I think NWN was the best enhanced edition yet so i'm cautiously optimistic.
  10. Neverwinter Nights 2: Enhanced Edition

So as of a few hours ago NWN2: Enhanced Edition popped up on SteamDB https://steamdb.info/app/2738630/history/ NWN1 and 2 are my favorite game series of all time without a doubt, so i'm eagerly awaiting this. Everything they did with NWN was a clear improvement, including the updated graphics.
  11. I don’t like MMO combat mechanics

Talking about City of Heroes led me to revisiting some of my old characters Luckily it's a game that is very casual friendly, I can pop in for a mission every few days and not miss anything
  12. Let's discuss replayability of RPGs

You can learn a foreign language and still play video games! Hobbies and productive activities are not mutually exclusive. In fact, you have to give yourself time to enjoy yourself if you are going to sustainably produce the motivation to pursue important things on your own time. At least, that...
  13. Kingdom Come: Deliverance 1&2

I bought the first one recently for like 4$ or something insane. I will eventually try it. hearing what I have about the sequel, i won't touch it, but i've long accepted i'm not a modern video game enjoyer.
  14. Thunderstruck! Blind playthrough of Arcanum

Have you considered throwing? You only need a handful of skillpoints to make it "good enough", and it's a decent support option for a tech melee build. Also, you're a dwarf, have you considered pumping your CON to 20? ;) it's a random bit of trivia, but a lot of the pre-generated classes end...
  15. Thunderstruck! Blind playthrough of Arcanum

Do you have enough smithing to make all the charged equipment? ( sword, shield, etc.) It might come in handy. After that, i'd go into mechanical and just try to get the robots. Fitting for a dwarf imo
  16. I don’t like MMO combat mechanics

I created several characters and leveled them close to max. A sword and shield guy was my first.
  17. I don’t like MMO combat mechanics

This, and interacting with a million different menu systems that don't interest me, and the basic bare-bones gameplay and story, are what inevitably push me away. The one MMO that I liked, City of Heroes, I never had to buy an alternate currency, and I never had to grind, levels came with doing...
  18. I don’t like MMO combat mechanics

I don't like MMO's, period. Combat mechanics included. The sole exception to this, and I have tried many, is City of Heroes. But that does everything differently to every other MMO. It's a tragedy as a single-player RPG enthusiast to see every major franchise grind to a screeching halt because...
  19. Thunderstruck! Blind playthrough of Arcanum

This is the correct way to play, in my opinion. Tim Cain has mentioned that the only reason real-time exists at all is to make multiplayer viable.
  20. Thunderstruck! Blind playthrough of Arcanum

The easiest and shortest route to fixing a glitch like this is just to cheat-in a resurrection item, there is a technological version. Quests can be taken out of the failed state if the person in question gets revived. Actually kind of cool, if you have the power naturally.
