Your impression about early game hours being rough aside, what also caught my eye was this:
I especially loved how the local Barghest problem gradually unfolded into a classic Witcher tale: one where the line between people and monsters blurs, and where the twists still land surprisingly well even in 2026. Considering this was CDPR’s first game, the writing holds up far better than I expected.

It gives me an impression the game will work for you quite well. I am curious what you'll have to say about questline of Chapter 2, I remember it being rather intriguing for a first time playthorugh :)

Currently going through Cyberpunk 2077 again and honestly it hits differently on a second playthrough. You notice so many little details you missed the first time. The side quests especially have so much depth, some of them are better than most main stories in other games. Also just picked up Hades 2 and it's been impossible to put down!

I'm currently playing Gothic Remake (haven't played original before) and it's been a blast. The game is as brutal and oldschool as I heard. No minimap (no regular map either unless you buy one) and very right economy is very refreshing. I love scraping for ore (which is a currency here) and wondering how to spend it will effectively. Definitely not a game for everyone, but it's been better than anticipated do far.

I watched the animated mini not that long ago and it really punched me in my heartspace. I was tempted to get the game, but I know I can't run it on my current machine. Maybe someday and another computer away I'll eventually pick it up on GoG.
