Yeah still waiting for things to pick up some pace. Right now all I'm doing is fetch quests. I thought the mausoleum would bring some more information but it too was just "go, kill, hand in quest". I'll probably have to follow the thing with Pharod to progress in the story.

Btw I figured combat wasn't important in the game, so difficulty is somewhere middle and while I left the Nameless One a fighter, I'm putting points into mental stats, especially WIS, because I've heard that's what offers most access to memories and dialogue options.
Definitely turn the Nameless One a mage when you have a chance. It's not even comparable. Playing this game as a fighter is very limiting.

Wisdom, Intelligence and Charisma are super important in this game, yeah.

EDIT: Though it is possible to finish the game as a fighter and still get good dialogue options. Just put some points in the three mental stats and get some tattoos to boost them as well. That's what I did in my first run.

"Fighter" is relative, here are my current stats:

Screenshot_20240623_192650_Planescape Torment Enhanced Edition.jpg

I don't feel like mage training because the circles and toons on tablet are awfully small. I'm using a pen but it's still clumsy, the micromanagement with spells would be annoying.
Difficulty is on 3 (out of 5, I think?) and I'd either spam rest or respawn constantly, or lower the difficulty even more, if it gets harder. I'm here for the story, I have heard a lot about PS:T but nobody ever discussed it for combat so I won't waste time with micromanagement. I even run away from the constantly aggro'd hive thugs when I don't feel like it.

Those stats are fine.

As for combat, consider this: Your main character can't die. You're immortal. Your companions can die, but The Nameless One can't. Give it a try, let an enemy kill you. You'll just wake up in the Morgue.

My first PST run ever was a straight-up fighter (High STR, DEX and CON) and while the game itself already felt great, it ended up being kind of short. Ten, after some time, I replayed it as a mage (with high INT, CHA and WIS), and boy oh boy, how much I have missed.

They put a lot of work, some of it entirely hidden, into a combat system only to give you barely any chance at all to use it. There's really nowhere outside the Modron Maze to do much of anything beyond a handful of spawns.

This summer I've been giving RuneScape a try. It's a very different and unique MMO from what I'm used to in other MMO's.

There are two very divergent versions of the same game, "Old School Runescape", which is the game as it originally was before a massive graphics and gameplay overhaul (which was generally not well-received, thus the need for OSRS), and "Runescape 3", which is the modern version of the game. The same account and membership gives access to both games.

I still can't decide which version I like better, and I've been spending time in both. They each have pros and cons.

Anybody else here ever play RuneScape, and if so, do you have a take on OSRS vs. RS3?

I have turned my back on MMOs after realizing the grinding mechanics and constant "come back every day and get rewards and complete this and that to later get and upgrade this and that" are very dangerous for people like me who have a poor sense of time, are easily distracted and tend to hyperfocus on things they enjoy.
I need games that have clear chapters that are finished at some point, and that I can put on hold for days or weeks and can continue whenever I want without FOMO and without the perfectionist/completionist in me wanting to get just one more ingredient or one more furnishing recipe. And I need games that get boring after a while or I'll never stop to do more important things.

With that said, I am happy to hear you have found another game you can enjoy, and I hope life is treating you well.

only ever played OG runescape but i love it because its one of those MMOs where you can easily play solo and where trade skills really matter and actually honing your skills at almost anything carries real rewards, even if only in gold.

my only gripe is that virtually all of the quests are lighthearted and jokey, without any real narrative, but like, who cares.

PST:EE still waiting for the interesting part. I'm in a buried village now, but all I do is still get attacked randomly by thugs, enter buildings, talk to everyone with a name and get rather pointless dialogues or fetch quests. Also lots of stuff, most of it worthless, and barely any traders. Meh. But I promised myself I'll be patient this time. It's further than I ever got in the game already after all.
People also mentioned Annah the tiefling as if she were recruitable, I don't see dialogue options for that though, maybe I'm missing something or it just happens later.

The thing with tattoos and body parts (just bought a new eyeball) is fun though, a bit like the zombie version of Cyberpunk implants.

Yep, Annah is recruitable. You can also talk to the companions that you've already recruited, like Dakkon. He can even train you.

You need to find Pharod. That's the main thing you should do during this part of the game.

yeah finally found him.
So does she get recruitable later on or did I do something wrong that there was no dialogue option for that?

I would add to that games that I can save and quit at a moment's notice. Anyone with children will probably agree with me.
