So it's true. An Oblivion remake is very close, it's real, and here are some screenshots:

What do you folks think? Would it be the same game with these graphics and (supposedly) no modding support?

It's out now!

  • New voice acting (mixed in with original voices - each race has a unique voice now)
  • New combat animations with hit feedback
  • Sprinting system added
  • Reworked third-person view
  • New levelling system (fusion of Oblivion & Skyrim; you just allocate stat points on level up now. Since the space for "virtues" seems fixed, looks like there's no more need to grind skills for "perfect" levels)
  • New interface (retains the general aesthetic of the original)
  • New content with Deluxe Edition
  • Every model/texture in the game has been remade by hand
  • Remastered VFX and SFX, added effects for combat
  • Uses Unreal Engine 5 for graphics, the original engine for core gameplay systems

Skyblivion is hoping to launch this year. Imagine this!!! After 10 years of hard work, it's in the final stretch. A full remake of Oblivion in the Skyrim engine.

I urge everyone to watch the trailer. Voice Narrating is by Ryan Cooper, whose voice sounds amazing and so fitting for Oblivion.

Bethesda is celebrating its 40th anniversary today, and they've revealed the name for TES6: Sentinel (just as everyone had figured out before):

Not much else has been revealed yet.

Hey guys. I spent probably about 2 months getting Skyrim running with all the mods I want - most of that time, with breaks due to frustration/exasperation, were trying to make Requiem work on Linux/wine, which I finally did by a really tricky method but did it.

Anyway, after all that work I played it for only a couple of hours and lost interest, lol. Pillars of Eternity 2 has taken over my playtime right now. Even the arguably watered down Pillars, compared to older IE games, feels worlds apart from Skyrim, with the latter feeling very empty and shallow.

I did play a good bit of Oblivion back in the day, once I learned about the Oscuro Overhaul, as vanilla was just too simplistic/easymode for me and while that too was not super deep I did enjoy it casually. I will try again with Skyrim but I am finding it hard to justify pulling myself away from POE2.

Without spoilers what do you 'do' in Skyrim? I ran around a while and it just feels shallow tbh. The quest just seem simple and the spell system super elementary (literally lol, just the 4 elements and healing) compared to dnd/a dnd clone with all the spell abilities they bring.

I could not imagine enjoying a mage character on Skyrim due to that. I am currently playing a tank but I remember that I played a rogue on Oblivion and thinking that would be an easier way to enjoy it as there feels like there would be more to do of your own accord since there feels so little content to sink my teeth in to.

To be fair I haven't actually tried any quests really. I have just run about randomly and got bored. Also, the POE2 quests aren't that great either. I would say it is the world building and lore that really engages me with the latter.
