I just saw this tweet from DnD Beyond about a 10-minute adventure that they made for new players of the game. I just played it and I think it's quite fun!

Here's a screenshot of the ending for my character:

I'll probably play again with another class, just to see some different results.

But I'd love to see your own results as well as knowing what you think of this adventure!

Ohhh, this is so cool. I really enjoyed it. Especially the dice-rolling mechanic. Thanks for sharing, I think more people have to play it. It illustrates the power and fun of DnD and why games with this system will always be popular. I mean, it was only text and dice-rolling (and a few pictures), and it already was fun.

Well, I tried the rest of the five classes, each one is a different story.

I absolutely love this demo, I think they did a really good job with it.

In fact I might try to create something similar. I have a character generator that I made with HTML, and another one with Godot. But I haven't thought of a story.

That was pretty fun. :D I also rolled a High Elf Wizard (seems you're always stuck as a High Elf if you pick Wizard?), and wound up surviving my adventure with:
  • 5/8 HP
[*]Tipped the messenger of a mysterious letter (being Lawful Good, paying the messenger for his work only seemed fair)
[*]Got hit hard by the news of a fallen friend (Str 10 not so good for Athletics checks :p)
[*]Made a magical mess in the library (again, Lawful Good, so sneaking away quietly wasn't my thing, and using violence against the strict but not evil librarian didn't seem warranted)
Still, the adventure didn't QUITE allow me the choices I would have made. For example, instead of immediately passage on a ship to Dragon's Rest, I'd first have gone back to my old mentor that me and Shale apprenticed under and try to find out if she'd told him anything about the trip she went on and what she was doing. Heck, maybe I could even have talked him into accompanying me on the adventure. It sounds like I'm a low-level Wizard, and going on a solo adventure is still suicide even in later editions. ;P
