    Dragon Age: The Veilguard

I finally bought Inquisition since it's on sale at Steam for $8 USD, and I started the tutorial just to get a feel for it. It won't let me map movement to the mouse, which is going to make it a pain for me to control. I can use the arrow keys to move, which I do for Might and Magic games, but I...

    Elder Scrolls Online

Hi, I'm still playing and learning. I settled on being a healer, and I have leveled both a warden healer and a templar healer. I can't decide still which I like better, but I've been focusing on my templar the past couple of weeks. I even got into doing some four person dungeons, after I found...

    The anime / manga thread

The closest I've been to anime was playing Final Fantasy XIV. Something about that art style, with exaggerated features (eyes, hair), and anthropomorphized animals or sometimes human-animal hybrids, doesn't appeal to me. When I was a child, I watched a black and white cartoon about a giant...

The Elder Scrolls Roleplay Playthrough Thread

@Urdnot_Wrex , I love your story writing, and I'm glad you had some time to play and post. Nice shot of Masser, though it makes me wonder where Secunda is. I love studying the skies in games and trying to make sense of the astronomy of the world. I believe in the Elder Scrolls games you can...

The Elder Scrolls Roleplay Playthrough Thread

Somehow I missed this thread before now. It must be because it started before I recently discovered Elder Scrolls Online and got back into Elder Scrolls. I probably should have just posted here instead of making my own thread. I'm looking forward to reading any future entries.

    Elder Scrolls Online

I had a feeling I was getting my impressions of the Bosmer from biased sources, since I've not played through their zones or in their alliance in ESO. Thanks for setting me straight, with good-humored roleplay to boot. :)

    Elder Scrolls Online

@ @shmity72 , I want to thank you again from the bottom of my heart for making this flowchart! Tonight I unwittingly got into the beginning of Elsweyr, from just exploring my Davon's Watch icons on my map. I had made a possible mistake in following the original story by treating my current...

    Elder Scrolls Online

So, I think I've succumbed to restartitis for about the fifth time. I was playing my Nord Templar and got a tidbit of lore about Redguard "sword saints", and given a quest to seek out a Redguard "sword master." My mind immediately went to "Hey, in-game RP lore-friendly Jedi Knights, yeah!" and I...

    Elder Scrolls Online

Hi, I thought I'd try my hand at posting posed screen shots here. Posing in this game is hard because of limited camera control as far as which way everybody is facing and what is in the background. I've already succumbed to my special brand of restartitis, but I have narrowed things down to a...

    Elder Scrolls Online

About the first person view thing, you do know that you can use the "change point of view" control, or I think that's what it was called, to play in over-the-shoulder third person perspective. That was one of the first things I looked for to change in both games. You can't see crap in first...

    Elder Scrolls Online

@Schmidt , wow, thank you for the flow chart. I am in fact interested in experiencing the game from the (somewhat) original starting zones, going from there. I know that there was originally another start called the "main quest" now, that you can do at any time, by talking to the "hooded figure"...

    Elder Scrolls Online

Hello, I've recently started to get into Elder Scrolls Online, and I'm really liking it so far. I felt like making a post to share with friends here, and to ask if anyone else is playing or has played, and what you think about it. There is so much rich lore and history in the Elder Scrolls...

    Industry News / Upcoming Games

@Antimatter , Thank you for the detailed answer. I'm still not quite seeing how Beamdog's new game qualifies. It looks like it has a story for the four main characters, and lots of cutscenes, so how would that involve randomly generated maps? Or tile-based movement? Perhaps a definition by...

    Industry News / Upcoming Games

Could someone clarify for me the definition of "rougelite"? Doesn't that mean the game is constructed of a series of puzzle-like combats that will kill you again and again until you figure out the "trick" to get past that one and go to the next one?

Things that do not make sense in games

I love Shadiversity videos. Also Lindybeige. I tend to adjust my play in games based on how they show things as possible or not. Flails and dual-wielding break my immersion now, thanks to Lindybeige, though, so watching these guys can be a double-edged sword, no pun intended.

Things that do not make sense in games

Ever tried to imagine where you got those gold coins from the dead wolf or bear? I have, which usually ends with me going "Eww." :)

Things that do not make sense in games

@Urdnot_Wrex , Yes, we're joking. The silly things are probably necessary for the games to be fun, but they're still silly if you switch your mindset. Imagine a Monty Python sketch where the characters are actually doing what we do in games, acted out as a movie. I try to keep the silliness to...

The Elder Scrolls Roleplay Playthrough Thread

Nice to see a role-played run of something, like we used to have more of in the old forum.

Things that do not make sense in games

Here's another one: Hammerspace in games. For anyone unfamiliar with the trope slang word, it refers to the way in games you can just summon a war hammer, or any other weapon, out of thin air. Slashing damage from your sword not working against those skeletons? Poof - turn it into a mace...

Things that do not make sense in games

Drinking potions during melee combat. "Excuse me, would you please stop swinging that sword for a few seconds while I grab and uncork this bottle and take a drink to heal the wound you just gave me? Thanks, I'm good to go now."
