Your impression about early game hours being rough aside, what also caught my eye was this:
I especially loved how the local Barghest problem gradually unfolded into a classic Witcher tale: one where the line between people and monsters blurs, and where the twists still land surprisingly well even in 2026. Considering this was CDPR’s first game, the writing holds up far better than I expected.

It gives me an impression the game will work for you quite well. I am curious what you'll have to say about questline of Chapter 2, I remember it being rather intriguing for a first time playthorugh :)

Currently going through Cyberpunk 2077 again and honestly it hits differently on a second playthrough. You notice so many little details you missed the first time. The side quests especially have so much depth, some of them are better than most main stories in other games. Also just picked up Hades 2 and it's been impossible to put down!

I'm currently playing Gothic Remake (haven't played original before) and it's been a blast. The game is as brutal and oldschool as I heard. No minimap (no regular map either unless you buy one) and very right economy is very refreshing. I love scraping for ore (which is a currency here) and wondering how to spend it will effectively. Definitely not a game for everyone, but it's been better than anticipated do far.

I watched the animated mini not that long ago and it really punched me in my heartspace. I was tempted to get the game, but I know I can't run it on my current machine. Maybe someday and another computer away I'll eventually pick it up on GoG.

Currently playing Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced.

After doing a marathon of Origins, Odyssey and Valhalla couple o years ago I was completely burned out with the franchise. But lately, having read positive things about Black Flag remake and not played the original, I decided to give it ago. And I'm having do nich fun.

I think the strongest parts of Black Flag are story, characters, cinematics and naval combat. I already had a glimpse of their naval combat system in Odyssey, but it's even better in Black Flag. And since you spend a lot of time sailing it has to be engaging. And it surely is!

The biggest downside for me is unfortunately melee combat, which is simply too easy in lacks tactical depth. It's flashy and fast-paced and eye-candy, but it's simply too easy.

The other thing that bothers me, which is not necessarily a game's fault is than going back from na open world modern day Assassin's Creed formula, where you can climb on virtually everything to a more linear one, where only specific spots are climbable is pretty hard. I'm simply spoiled with that.

All in all, Black Flag Resynced is a great game. It has potential for the best AC story right after Ezio's trilogy. If you are w fan of classic AC formula and somehow haven't played original Black Flag, I recommend to try this remake.

Currently playing UnderRail. I honestly can't believe this game has stayed off of my radar for so long. It's heavily inspired by Fallout (at least in terms of gameplay), but there's also a strong Metro 2033 influence. I'm probably going to have to take a break from it though because a) my laptop is having a lot of issues so I need to find somewhere to get it repaired and b) this game is pretty morally grey on a good day and I'm not sure I'm in the right headspace for it right at this time. Still, I highly recommend checking it out. Despite the simple graphics, it's a deceptively sophisticated and complex game. I built a stealth character, and I really have to pay attention to space, light, and distances. Additionally, optimal solutions are not always straightforward in the game. There was one building I need to work my way through for a job and I could break into the ventilation system to get to other areas while avoiding guards and security cameras. Being a stealth build, I was not set up for any direct confrontation, but I could use the ventilation system to avoid cameras and guard patrols to get to the objective. There was one significant unavoidable fight, but I was able to bait the enemies, fall back to a security room (that I could lock myself in) and then turn on the floor's defenses so the enemies were taken down by turrets. I had heard that this was a more combat heavy game, but I think a more accurate take is that it can be a more combat heavy game if you only use linear thinking. There are alternative solutions everywhere. Anyway, I'm looking forward to circling back on this one.
